The album that can sadly never be remixed from the masters as it was recorded to tape, and edits were done via tape splicing back in the day, leaving the heavily spliced tape practically destroyed by the ravages of time. The most infamous mixing non-sequitor of the late 80s which saw the bass practically exhumed from this album. Somehow, this still remains the zenith of the band’s songwriting evolution and a contested legacy piece which many consider the last true Metallica record before inviting hordes of norms onto the tour bus. An absolute must own record and in the top three of the catalogue in many respects.
